Analysis

Analysis (Web Dashboard) section offers extremely powerful analytics and visual representation of the testing as well as production monitoring data. Web Dashboard is an HTML5 based application, which can run on all modern browsers, platforms and devices (like laptops, tablet, and mobile) as a responsive lightweight web client for numerous Cavisson products, such as NetStorm, NetDiagnostics, and NetVision SM.

To access the Web Dashboard, click the Analysis button at the top.

The NVSM Web Dashboard is displayed. 

NVSM Important Features

Here, we are describing only the ‘Drill Down’ feature (and its various properties) that comes under the ‘Advanced Options’ section. For drilling down a graph data, first we need to plot that graph on the graph panel via NVSM metrics.

Drill-Down Data for more Insights

User can drill down the graph data to get more insights. To perform this, follow the below mentioned steps:

On the graph panel, click the Widget Settings icon and then click the Drill Down option. There are three sub-options under this – Page Average Report, Average Report, and Detailed Report. First, Detailed Report is described, then Average Report, and at the last Page Average Report.

Detailed Report

To view the detailed report of the graphs, navigate to the graph level, the details are displayed on the Page Detail Reports window.

 

There details displayed here are – Page name, host name, profile name, location/generator name, screen size, browser type, date time, Dom content loading time, on load time, page load time, number of requests excluding browser cache, number of resources served by browser cache, bytes received, and bytes sent.

Note: Earlier, ‘Device Info’ was irrespective of ‘Host Name’. Now, ‘Device Info’ is based on ‘Host Name’, that is, For ‘Host Name’: m.cavisson.com, ‘Device info’: Mobile:Chrome68.

View Request Details for Page

On mouse hover at the requests link, the system displays total number of requests, before DomContentLoad requests, and before OnLoad requests. To view the detailed requests for page, click the request link. This navigates the user to the Request Detail Page.

Request detail page consists of information, such as Page response, DOM complete time, response time, DNS time, and so on. It also contains bottleneck details, such as blocking URLs, slowest DNS, slowest connect, slowest wait, slowest load. User can change the number of top bottlenecks from the drop-down list.

This page also contains details in tabular format that comprises path/file name, host name, host IP address, code, domain type, served by, content type, size, DNS, and so on. User can apply filters in this section too.

User can also download the details in PDF, Excel, and Word format using the icons at the bottom left of the page.

View Page Speed Report for Page

User can view the page speed report from the Request Details page (by clicking the 12 icon) or from the Page Details Report page (by clicking the Page Load link).

This page consists of various details, such as page name, host name, overall score, DOM Content Load time, On load time, page load time, and so on. This page also displays detail, such as score (which is defined by certain threshold values), page speed factor, and recommendations (which is displayed on clicking the 8 icon). To get more insights, click the recommendations link.

View Waterfall of the Page

User can view the waterfall of the page from Requests Detail page (by clicking the 13 icon) or from the Page Details Report page (by clicking the page name).

In this page, user can see various components which are executed. This page provide details on the file size and time taken for execution (in waterfall mode).

This page consists of two tabs – Show Page Timeline and Show Statistics.

Show Page Timeline

This tab displays page timelines that contains various details. To close this section, click the Hide Page Timeline button.

Show Statistics

This tab displays statistics in the form of a chart. To hide the statistics, click the Hide Statistics button.

View Content Statistic

User can view the content statistic also. To do this, click the 14 icon on the Request Details Page. The content type and domain statistics window is displayed.

This page is divided into two sections, one section displays the details, such as host statistics, request statistics, and content type statistics in the form of charts and another section displays the same details in tabular format.

Average Report

This section displays the average report of a particular page. To view this, go to the Average Report option under drill-down and click a particular metrics/page.

The Average Report of that page is displayed.

User can view various reports in detail using the following links (as discussed earlier):

  • Click the page name link to view the page detail report for page.
  • Click the On load link to view the aggregate waterfall for the page.
  • Click the requests link to view the request detail for page.

Page Average Report

User can also view the average details of all pages. To do this, go to the Page Average Report under the Drill-down menu.

The Page Average Report is displayed.

User can view various reports in detail using the following links (as discussed earlier):

  • Click the page name link to view the page detail report for page.
  • Click the On load link to view the aggregate waterfall for the page.
  • Click the requests link to view the request detail for page.

Note: Earlier, ‘Group’ column was not present in Page Average report along with filter option. Now, the user can apply group based filters in case numerous pages are hit in the test.

Downloading Reports

The reports displayed on each page can be downloaded in the form of Excel, PDF, and Word. To download a report, click the specified icon at the bottom left corner of the page.
