Adding a Monitor Group
User needs to follow the below mentioned steps to manage monitor group:
- Open web browser and type the address in the address bar http://hostname:80/netstorm.
The NetStorm login window is displayed.
- Login to NetStorm using login credentials. The NetStorm home page is displayed.
- On the left menu, click the Monitors icon, there are three options – Monitors, Topology, and Batch Jobs. Click the Monitors option, the Monitor Group Management window is displayed.
- To add a new monitor profile, click the Add button. The Add Monitor Group window is displayed.
- Enter Monitor Group name and its description and click the Save Tabs of various monitors categories is displayed, such as Standard monitors, Log monitors, Custom monitors, Dynamic monitors, Server signatures, Check monitors, and User monitors.
- Click any monitor tab (for example – Custom Monitors).
- Provide monitor details:
- Tier Name: Tier name where monitor is running.
- Server Name: Server name or IP address where monitor is running.
- GDF: Graph Data File of the custom monitor which is used.
- Vector Name: Vector name to identify the Custom Monitor. Vector name must start with Alpha. Allowed characters are alpha, numeric and special characters – underscore and dot.
- Option: Option of running custom monitor.
- Run Every Time: NetStorm starts the monitor every time to get data.
- Run Once: NetStorm starts the monitor once at the start of Test Run.
- Program Name: Program name and arguments of the Custom Monitor.
- Click the Add button, then click the Save button.
- Click the Close button to close the window.

If user wants to add another monitor in same profile, select another monitor and repeat above steps. |
Editing a Monitor Group
User needs to follow the below mentioned steps for editing a monitor group:
- On the Monitor Group Management window, select the monitor group and click the Edit button.
- The Edit Monitor Group window is displayed. Go to the specified monitor group.
- Here, user can update the description of the monitor group. Post edits, click the Save button.

User can copy, delete, and update a monitor by selecting it and clicking the respective button. |
Copy Monitor Group
User needs to follow the below mentioned steps to copy one monitor group to another one:
- On the Monitor Group Management window, select the monitor group and click the Copy button. The Copy Monitor Group window is displayed as shown below:
- Enter the monitor group name in the Copy To Monitor Group Name text box to which user want to make a copy.
- Click the Save button to save the details.
Deleting a Monitors Group
User needs to follow the below mentioned steps for deleting a monitor group:
- On the Monitor Group Management window, select the monitor group and click the Delete button. A confirmation message is displayed as shown below:
- Click OK to confirm the monitor group deletion. The monitor group is deleted from the list.
Adding Monitor Profile in Scenario
User needs to follow the below mentioned steps for adding a monitor profile in scenario:
- On the NetStorm home page, click the Scenarios icon on the left pane. Go to Scenarios section.
2. A list of available scenarios is displayed. Click the scenario name to which the monitor profile needs to be added. The scenario management window is displayed with some options on the left pane.
3. Click the Monitors link, the Monitors section is displayed.
- Select the Monitor Group Name from the list.
Start, Stop, and Restart Monitor
User can start/stop/restart monitors on tier/server/instance level. This operation can be performed on Application metrics and system metrics for selected monitors or for all monitors.
Start
To start a monitor, make sure that monitors are in stopped state, else and exception is occurred. Follow the below mentioned steps to start a monitor. Here we are considering that user is starting monitors at tier level.
- On the NetStorm home page, go to Total tests section, the test run page is displayed.
- Open web dashboard by clicking a test run on the test run page.
- On the graph tree view, right-click the tier and go to Monitors.
- To start selected monitor on selected tier, go to Start > Selected Monitor on Selected Tier.
- To start all monitor on selected tier, go to Start > All Monitor on Selected Tier.
- A confirmation message is displayed for successfully start of all monitors.
Stop
To stop a monitor, make sure that monitors are in running state, else and exception is occurred. Follow the below mentioned steps to stop a monitor. Here we are considering that user is stopping monitors at tier level.
- Right click the tier and go to Monitors.
- To stop selected monitor on selected tier, go to Stop > Selected Monitor on Selected Tier.
- To stop all monitor on selected tier, go to Stop > All Monitor on Selected Tier.
- A confirmation message is displayed for successfully stop of all monitors.
Restart
User can restart a running monitor only, make sure it is not in stopped state. Follow the below mentioned steps to restart a monitor. Here we are considering that user is restarting monitors at tier level.
- Right click the tier and go to Monitors.
- To restart selected monitor on selected tier, go to Restart > Selected Monitor on Selected Tier.
- To restart all monitor on selected tier, go to Restart > All Monitor on Selected Tier.
- A confirmation message is displayed for successfully stop of all monitors.
